Dr. Casas previously served as: Senior Managing Director and Head of Navigant Capital Advisors, LLC, the corporate financial advisory business segment of Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:NCI); Founder and Managing Partner of Casas, Benjamin, and White, LLC, a highly successful boutique investment banking, restructuring, and principal investment firm, until its sale to Navigant in 2005; President and Chief Executive Officer of PrimeCare International, Inc., executing the successful operating and capital restructuring and sale of the $500 million revenue, diversified health services concern; corporate Vice President and Head of Mergers & Acquisitions for Caremark International, Inc. (a NYSE Fortune 500 public company), divesting and acquiring businesses with nearly $1 billion in transaction value in conjunction with the successful corporate repositioning and ultimate sale of the company; and, active duty as a designated flight surgeon assigned to U.S. Marine Corps military operations support, as a Department Head of Aviation Medicine, and deployed in multiple operating theaters including operation Desert Shield/Storm in the Middle East, and operation Support Justice in South America.
Dr. Casas has been elected to the boards of numerous public and private companies, typically leading strategy, compensation, and/or audit committees. Notable roles include: Executive Chairman of the Board of Mediq, Inc., the largest U.S. moveable medical equipment, rental and distribution company, until its sale to Hillenbrand Industries (NYSE: HB); Executive Chairman of the Board of HQ Global Workplaces, Inc., the largest executive office and business service provider in the U.S. until its sale to Regus Group PLC (LSE: RGU.L), now known as IWG PLC (LSE: IWG.L); Executive Committee member of Reckson Associates Realty Corp. (NYSE: RA), a $5 billion market cap REIT until its unique combined sale through partial management buyout and simultaneous sale to SL Green (NYSE: SLG); Executive Chairman of the Board of TLC Healthcare Services, Inc., the largest privately held home health services company in the U.S. until its sale to Amedysis (NASDAQ: AMED); Chairman of both the Compensation Committee and the Special Committee on Strategic Alternatives of the Board of MedCath Corporation (NASDAQ: MDTH), a healthcare provider focused primarily on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease until developing and executing a multi-transactional monetization strategy to optimize equity value realization; and, Executive Chairman of the Board of Eagle Hospital Physicians Holdings, LLC, a Dallas, TX and Atlanta, GA-based physician practice management company, providing hospitalists contract staffing services to healthcare systems in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions until its sale to Sound Physicians. Most recently, he is serving as Executive Chairman of Eagle Telemedicine, a national leader of remote access, acute care, provider services.
Dr. Casas is a graduate of Northwestern University's Medical School and Kellogg Graduate School of Management where he concurrently earned his Doctor of Medicine, Master of Management/Business Administration, and Master of Public Health degrees. He is a FINRA Series 7, 24 and 63 licensed registered securities principal. He also holds an AIRA certification as a Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor.
