Raoul has represented companies and various stakeholders in complex out-of-court workouts and transactions, as well as in Chapter 11 cases where his strong advocacy consistently results in optimized client recoveries. Mr. Nowitz recently served as financial advisor to the Chairman and the Disinterested Directors of Energy Future Holdings Corp., the largest private equity-backed company bankruptcy to date.
Raoul’s client base comprises companies, financial sponsors, senior lenders and other parties-in-interest with an emphasis on stressed and distressed situations. Industries covered have incorporated healthcare, hospitality, energy, real estate, building products, and business services. Aggregate transaction volume has exceeded $50 billion.
Prior to SOLIC Capital Advisors, Raoul was a senior investment banker with Macquarie Capital (and its predecessor firms) for over a decade where he originated and successfully led transactions primarily in the firm’s Restructuring & Special Situations Group. Raoul’s professional experience also includes Giuliani Capital Advisors and Ernst & Young Corporate Finance, both predecessor firms of Macquarie Capital, and Grant Thornton International’s Accounting, Audit & Tax Division.
Raoul earned his Master of Business Administration from the Goizueta Business School of Emory University, where he qualified Beta Gamma Sigma recognition for Honors achievement in business study, and received his Bachelor of Commerce and Postgraduate Bachelor of Accounting from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. Raoul is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa), is FINRA Series 7 and 63 licensed, and received his Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) and Certification in Distressed Business Valuation (CDBV) designations. Raoul is a regular author and speaker on industry topics.
